Dream Big

Many of us live paycheck to paycheck. Nothing wrong with that. At least, you have work that pays and you are responsible to pay your bills. Most of the time. Things go bad when unexpected bills pop up. The car needs expensive repairs, Dad gets injured and is in a hospital that’s far away and you need to visit him and pay for the extra gas, maybe take time off work.

We have enough money to pay for the bills until something unexpected happens. We don’t have a reserve of money for the unexpected. We should. The unexpected ALWAYS happens.

For many of us, our big dream is to pay all the bills, responsibly and reliably every month and still have $50 left over for spending on fun things. Fun things are whatever you want them to be. Take your wife out for a nice dinner. I’m not sure about $50 will be enough for a nice dinner out, but maybe it will pay for the babysitter, so you two can have some time away with dinner together to reconnect with your spouse.

These scenarios are great, but they don’t leave much room for living, for breathing, for living life to the FULLEST.

THERE’S GOT To be a better way. There is.

Dream Bigger for Success

Do you have a thought on what Dream Bigger means to you? What does Dream Bigger mean to me?

I don’t think I have ever truly  thought about this, so it is really a challenge. A lot of people just go on day to day not thinking of the future and what could be. Some don’t think that they can have more- never think that they deserve more. They never make goals so they can achieve Bigger. What are your goals? How will you reach them? What are your ambitions or desires? What is your WHY? Why do you work? What do you want to achieve? Or what do I do if I fail?

I am a forward thinker, looking for the future and what I want it to look like. Growing up I had a pretty average life, playing outside with friends, attending school and church, doing the things that an average child does. When I graduated high school, I took a year off before going to college. This is where the “Dream Bigger” mentality started.

Where And When Do You Start To Dream Bigger

This is a great question. It is different for everyone and there is NO wrong answer. The time and place is up to you and ONLY you. Nobody else can make that decision for you because it is personal to each person. What you will want to make sure you do however, is once you figure it all out, put it into the Universe to seal the deal.

So you need to pick the right place, make it comfortable and relaxing. A place you know and can clear your mind of any negative thoughts. Once you have the place and the time, start thinking about what you want and the goals you need to set to get there. Dream Bigger doesn’t mean you want to be a billionaire or even a millionaire. This could be a promotion at work, or a new car, or joining a league instead of just playing the sport by yourself. It really just means you want to set the bar higher than it already is.

I recently took a vacation in Europe and saw a place so AMAZING that I want to bring my granddaughters to experience it with me. This is a long term goal. My youngest granddaughter had her first birthday just as I was leaving for Europe! I need to help them grow up and be responsible and get themselves ready and dressed, snacks and sunglasses and other things they need packed in a backpack that each one will carry on her back without needing my help, before we will travel that far. That’s ok. It gives me a long term goal to save up money for. So, what I need is:

  1. Take care of my health. I’m already pushing 70. In 8-10 years, I’ll be older, which is ok as long as I care for my health. I eat very healthfully, work out 5 days a week, practise yoga daily and I walk too! I try to get enough sleep. I’m not on any medications- that’s a big step forward!
  2. I’m already in a business where I can make truly as much money as I want to make. The cool thing is that my expenses don’t increase as my income increases. Rory, one of the owners, generates the leads and gives them to us free to achieve his goal of helping as many people in this world as he can. His goal is to improve the lives of 100,000 people. A large goal, but one Rory is achieving!
  3. I’m a hands-on-grandmother. I am over at my daughter’s house at 6am, when my granddaughters wake up. I’m over there at minimum 8 mornings a month. I’m teaching them to take responsibility by demonstrating it. I feed them breakfast and play with them or go for a walk. I try to let my daughter and son-in-law sleep in 1 or 2 days a week. They work very hard and long. When one is out of town, I am there in the morning to help get them both dressed, fed, packed and out the door.

All dreams must have goals to reach them. So let’s figure out how we are going to set those goals and achieve.

Don’t Wait, Start now!

You don’t necessarily have to dream small, you can dream as big as you want. But when you set your goals to achieve that Dream, make sure the goals are realistic. What I mean by that is…..”I want to be a billionaire”. When I set my goals, I wouldn’t set them to create that wealth in a month. I would build up to that dream. For instance, making $10,000 a month in one year. This is something that I can achieve. Then when I reach that goal, celebrate and set a new goal! And so on and so on.

When you reach that Dream, Dream Bigger. Never stop dreaming and working towards your goals. One thing that has helped me is Changing my Mindset.

Changing Your Mindset, Dream Bigger

Your Mindset is a tricky thing. It isn’t something that you just change over-night. You might have to train your mind how you want it to be. First thing is you want to have a positive mindset. You have to get out of your own head. Start telling yourself that you can instead of thinking of reasons you can’t. You are the only one who can get in the way of reaching your Dream.

Secondly, you’ll want to focus your mindset on how you are going to make those goals happen. Stay focused. Here is a good step by step way to help.

  • Identify that your mindset needs a shift
  • Be open to Personal Development
  • What will you do each day to change your mindset?
  • Be aware of changes that are needed and take action
  • Train your mind to be Positive

The power of your thoughts are huge. If you have the slightest bit of doubt then you won’t reach your goal. So change your thoughts from what could happen to what WILL happen. You got this!

Your “WHY” To Dream Bigger

This is my favorite part of Dreaming Bigger. You have to choose a “WHY”. What I mean by that is, “WHY” are you doing this, “WHY” do you have this DREAM? Just like your goals, your WHY will change as time goes on. But for now, at the beginning, figure out what your WHY is. It will be something that is pushing you to get to that goal, that dream. This will be something that if you “FAIL” it will make you so emotional you cry. And be specific with your WHY, don’t just say I want to be a billionaire because I want to be rich. Why do you want to be rich?

I have lived my life so far, with only a minimum amount of money. I’d like that to change. I’m tired of being poor, I want to spend money to make this World a better place for others, especially my daughter and my 2 granddaughters. I want to contribute to charities financially and I want to work myself to bring about the change that I want to see happen. Nelson Mandella urges us to “Be the change you want to see in the World”

But for now, I will work towards this DREAM of mine.

What Happens If We Fail?

I have been told my entire career, “The only way you fail is if you give up.” There are always going to be bumps in the road, you just need to figure out how to get past them. Whether it be going over them, through them, or around them, don’t let those bumps stop you from getting to your Dreams. Colin Powell once said – “A dream doesn’t become reality through Magic. It takes sweat, determination, and hard work!” That is the truth, don’t give up because it got a little difficult or stressful. You can do it!

What Does Success Look Like?

Success is measured in a lot of different ways. If you reach your goals, reach your Dreams, if you are happy, with just the little wins. The point of this is- you choose what success looks like. If you don’t think you are successful yet, then do something to change that. Or go back up and read about mindset and work on getting to that successful point. Everyone should have success in their life.

Now Let’s Set Some Goals

dream bigger

If you don’t know how to set goals then, hopefully, this will help. Create a vision of what your goals to reach your dreams look like. Remember what I said earlier. They need to be realistic, not so easy you hit your goal right away. But not so difficult that you can never reach it. You should set your goal where you need to work for it. Once you figure them out, write them down. Yes I said them, you can have more than one goal. You want to be able to see this goal every day. Here is how to create that vision.

  • Create a Vision Board
  • Make that Vision Board visible in your workspace or living space
  • Imagine how you will feel once you can check things off your board
  • On your vision board, you must include your “WHY” and your “DREAMS” (these are what keep you going)

Now that you have set your goals, you have your vision board, and you have a true path ahead, it’s time to turn these Dreams into reality!

Dream Bigger And Put It Into Action!

Everything we have talked about above mean nothing unless you actually do them. “You can’t change the past or the future, you can only change the present!” It’s time for action, create your journey that you want to see and reach those goals you have created. Don’t just say you will do it, like NIKE says…….JUST DO IT!

One thing that can help you is having either an accountability partner or group. Then once a week, tell them your goals for the week and what you achieved last week. This will keep you on track for reaching your ultimate goal, Dreams!

Get Ready For The Journey Of A Life Time

The number one killer of not getting your Dreams is your mindset. Once you have changed your mindset, get ready for an amazing journey. As I said before, this takes time and milestones but it’s absolutely worth it. And since you are about to have an amazing journey of a life time, make sure to not forget the people who matter most to you in your life. Take them along for the ride. It will actually make the Dream that much better.

Where I Am At In My Journey, Where Are You?

dream bigger

I have created a business for myself, and started setting goals with that business. Like I said before, My WHY has changed several different times, but it still means the same to me. It pushes me harder and harder to Succeed. My journey is not over. It has only just begun!

What is your WHY and your goals? Where are you at in achieving those goals and succeeding? What do you need to do to get there? How does your journey look and are you proud of it? I hope you are where you need to be and if not, you now know how to get there. If you are struggling, I can always help you succeed. Take a moment and write me an email. GMELE2022@gmail.com.

I will get in touch with you and we can DREAM BIGGER together!
